Quantum Rings Sponsors GenQ Hackathon at Platform Calgary

This weekend, Quantum Rings was proud to sponsor the #GenQHackathon at Platform Calgary. With Bob Wold and Robert Wamsley on the ground, we helped bring together innovators from diverse backgrounds for an intense weekend of ideation, collaboration, and real-world quantum computing applications.

The energy was electric as participants tackled real-world challenges with the potential to shape our future through quantum techniques.

I'm very excited to share that one team using Quantum Rings took the top prize for their innovative work in portfolio optimization, integrating ESG parameters to create high performance portfolios that are also sustainable.

Highlights included:

  • Engaging Keynotes: Martin Laforest, Lisa Lambert, and others shared inspiring perspectives on the transformative impact of the Quantum Generation.
  • Creative Challenges: Teams explored exciting use cases, including:
    • Wind farm optimization for clean energy
    • Snow plowing route optimization
    • Quantum chemistry simulations
    • Responsible investment strategies (sponsored by Quantum Rings) — hackers found innovative ways to blend ESG parameters into investment portfolios.
  • Final Pitch Competition: Teams presented their quantum solutions, competing for prizes and a chance to join QAI Ventures’ boot camp to further develop their ideas.

A special shoutout to Carlos Kuchkovsky and Antonio Peris from QCentroid for providing the platform and compute resources. Their support allowed participants to leverage the Quantum Rings SDK for large-scale quantum simulations.

It was an honor to sponsor this event alongside quantum legends like Xanadu, Pasqal, Alice & Bob, QCentroid, Kipu Quantum, and others.

We’re excited to see these projects grow and continue to make a difference.

Thanks to QAI Ventures and their team for organizing such an impactful hackathon!
